Introduction to Service |
This service gives you the flexibility to route your FleXtel numbers, by sending a simple SMS text message from your mobile to our dedicated SMS Reroute Gateway. It works both at home and when roaming abroad, is very low cost to use and is reliable even in very poor radio coverage areas.
FleXtel's SMS Rerouting is a powerful service that will allow you to reroute single or multiple numbers, find out the current destination for your FleXtel number(s) and also change PIN(s). In it's simplest form it gives quick, convenient and easy control of single numbers. For the more advanced user, the SMS system has been designed to support control of multiple FleXtel numbers within a single command message.
The FleXtel Reroute Gateway (where to send your command messages) can be found at GSM international number +44 7779 700 000. Your mobile handbook will tell you how to dial the GSM international prefix .
If you cannot dial the key, no problem, you can still access the FleXtel Gateway by sending your reroute command message to the UK National Number 0 7779 700 000, but remember that this number only works in the UK. So, if you are roaming your should always use the full +44 UK international prefix.
Notes
Charging Information |
Although FleXtel does not charge to use the SMS Rerouting facility, your cellular provider may charge you to send the SMS message, depending on your mobile tariff package. This is typically is not more than a few pence per reroute (single or multiple) both at home and when abroad.
So the FleXtel SMS gateway delivers amazingly good value when roaming anywhere in the world! Wherever you are you should be able to reroute your number as cheaply and easily as if you where at home or in your UK office. FleXtel's SMS based service is faster, more convenient, more reliable and far cheaper than mobile WAP or Internet access from hotel the hotel phone or local Internet cafe.

Advanced Commands |
To change a FleXtel PIN, write an SMS in this format:
Routing a Single FleXtel number to one of the preset memory location numbers. Valid memory location numbers are 1,2,3,4 and 5 only.
Before you can use this feature, you must setup the memory locations yourself. You can set up to five Memory Locations either using the telephone interface on 0870 321 0000 / 07010 700 000 or at the Reroute Control Panel.
To route to a memory location, write an SMS message in this format:
Routing several
numbers to Follow-Me:
Route up to eight (8) FleXtel numbers to your current mobile, using one SMS. Note that F1 means FleXtel number 1 and P1 means PIN 1 etc. The limit is the 160 character text message and this assumes a four digit pin. Six digits PIN's reduce the possible number to seven (7) FleXtel numbers.
Routing
Several Numbers to Memory Locations:
This is a very
powerful function, since your can switch up to 8 FleXtel numbers up to five different
configurations (i.e. 40 independent routings):
e.g.
Checking
several current 'Routed Where?':
This function can interrogate up to eight FleXtel numbers and returns the state of each. If you're really confused then this is the one for you!
Mixing Commands |
It is possible to join different commands together. You could therefore change a FleXtel PIN, reroute a number and check a status in one message. Please remember that each of these "subcommands" must start with a FleXtel number and end with a #.
Use the examples above to compile your own set of instructions.
Error Handling |
Errors In Simple Commands
If the system finds an error in your command e.g. invalid PIN or an illegal FleXtel Number, an error message will be sent to assist you in correcting the command.
Errors In Multiple Commands
In the event of an error in a multiple command, the system will abort processing at the subcommand in error. All valid subcommands before the failed subcommand will be processed. Any subcommands after the error will be discarded whether valid or not.
To assist you in identifying the problem, the ERROR message will describe the fault and indicate the character number at which point the processing was aborted
e.g. the message: " Aborted@19" means that any commands before character 19 were processed successfully, but the command starting at the 19th character contained an error and was discarded by the system.
Remember: Any command(s) after this faulty command will have been discarded whether valid or not.
System
Errors
In the rare event of system errors, please wait
up to 15 minutes and try again as this may just be due to temporary problems.
If the problem continues for more than 20 minutes then please contact
us.
Remember - if your SMS text message cannot be delivered
to us, then you must contact your Mobile Service Provider as FleXtel cannot help
you in this case.
